The meaning that adults have in biology refers to an animal capable of reproducing. In the context of humans, the term adult has meanings associated with moral and social concepts. Contrary to the concept of a non-adult or "minor" legally adult is a person who is at the point of majority. They are considered to be independent, self-sufficient, and dependable. It is also possible to view them as a "major". The age of 18 is the legal adult age, however, this definition may differ by country, legal rights or mental development.

The period of human development in which full physical and mental maturation has been achieved. It usually starts when a person reaches the age of 21. Middle age, commencing at about 40 years then follows by the age of 60 years old. As we grow older, there are three distinct phases: Early adulthood (18-30 years) and Middle Adulthood (30-60 year olds) and late adulthood (60%-60 60%). By the time we reach the age of early adulthood (20 to early 40s) the physical development has been completed, however the size and weight of our bodies could increase a bit. As we enter the first years of our adulthood, we're physically peaking. The strength of our muscles, the response timing, the ability to sense and cardiac function are all at their peak.
